From Day One

Chapter One returns to where Alchemist began: a small coffee bar at International Plaza built around serving quality coffee. From the open bar to the materials we chose, the space shaped our belief in keeping things simple, approachable, and easy to return to every day.

10th Anniversary Exclusive Coffee Set

This anniversary set traces how our understanding of coffee has unfolded over time, and how that continues to shape how we roast, brew, and share coffee today.

We started with coffees that felt steady and familiar. As we continued to grow, curiosity led us toward coffees that showed more expression. Today, we continue to value comfort and familiarity in flavours, while embracing fresh profiles. Together, the set brings everything we've learned into the present.

A reminder that coffee can be both easy to enjoy and full of character at the same time.

The 10 Year Journey

2016 — International Plaza

We opened our doors with a small menu and a clear standard: coffee with clarity and intention. What started as a simple bar quickly became a daily ritual–built on careful sourcing, precise dialing and time spent with every guest.

2017 — Retail Coffee Beans

We expanded our retail coffee bean offerings, making it easier for more people to enjoy specialty coffee at home. Accessibility became an important part of how we approached coffee beyond the bar.

2018 — Hong Leong Building

Our second store opened at Hong Leong Building, further deepening our presence within Singapore’s CBD and allowing us to bring our approach to coffee to a wider everyday audience.

2019 — Khong Guan Building Roastery

We opened our first roastery at Khong Guan Building, giving us greater control over sourcing and roasting. Cascara Tea was also introduced to our menu, offering an alternative way to experience coffee through the dried fruit of the coffee cherry.

2020 — First Drip Bags

During COVID, we adapted by launching our online store and Another Coffee, our ready-to-drink series (now discontinued). We also introduced Drip Bags, marking the beginning of our Ready to Brew series and making quality coffee easier to enjoy at home.

2021 — The Mill & CIMB Plaza

The Mill marked our first store designed in response to its surrounding architecture, while CIMB Plaza, our 6th store, strengthened our presence within Singapore’s CBD and fast-moving coffee culture.

2022 — First Christmas Blend

We introduced the first edition of Fruit Cake, our seasonal Christmas blend, and began exploring collaborations with different creative concepts through a series of activations during our time at Design Orchard.

2023 — 71 Robinson, The Heeren & Asia Square

This year marked another chapter of growth within Singapore’s CBD with the opening of 71 Robinson, The Heeren, and Asia Square, expanding how and where people experienced Alchemist daily.

2024 — Roastery move & First HQ

We opened Ocean Financial Centre and our first collaboration store with Arcade at Funan, while continuing to grow our Ready to Brew series through the launch of Capsules and Cascara Tea. This was also the year we expanded and moved our roastery from Khong Guan Building into our current HQ in Kaki Bukit.

2025 — overseas expansion to japan & taiwan

We continued expanding across Singapore with Plaza Singapura and The Sail, while opening our first overseas stores in Tokyo and Taipei through Aoyama, Asakusa, and Dihua. This was also the year the Coffee Waste Initiative became part of our store design for the first time.

2026 — a decade of alchemist

Our growth continued across Singapore, Tokyo, and Taipei with new stores at Square 2, SingPost Centre, Da’an, Kyobashi, and Dunhua, and now, Arab Street. We also expanded the Coffee Waste Initiative through the use of coffee waste and second-life materials across all stores opened this year.
